How to Open Packs

Packs are the entire gacha in Spin a Catboy. You do not roll dice. You buy a crate, you open it, you get a Catboy (or a Catgirl, or a Secret). Mugpugs published three Secret rates in the description, which is more honesty than most incremental pages ever get. This guide is how to spend into those rates without lying to yourself.

If you have not filled the Base yet, stop and read getting started. Packs without empty slots become storage problems, and More Storage is a 49 Robux tax on impatience.

The three official Secret rates

  • Eclipse packs: 1/100 Secrets. This is the premium hunt crate. If the shop still labels a pack Eclipse, it is the one you save for when you actually want a Secret.
  • Packs that cost 50B: 1/150 Secrets. Slightly worse than Eclipse, still in the same universe. 50B is a real bankroll target, not a beginner purchase.
  • All other packs: 1/100,000 Secrets. These exist to fill plots and to bait people who think “any pack can Secret.” They can. They almost never will.

Super Secret is about 1/10 of the Secret rate on that same pack. On Eclipse that is roughly 1/1,000. On 50B packs roughly 1/1,500. On trash packs roughly 1/1,000,000. The odds tool runs those numbers without a spreadsheet.

The thumbnail joke rate of 1/397,897,213 is marketing. Do not build a savings plan around it.

A simple buy rule

  1. If you have empty Base slots, buy the cheapest pack that still yields a placeable Catboy. You are buying income, not a lottery ticket.
  2. If the plot is full and cash is below one 50B pack, stop opening. Upgrade the Base and the Skill Tree instead. See upgrade the Base.
  3. If you can afford a 50B or Eclipse pack, buy one at a time and place the result before you chain-open. Auto Skip (79 Robux) only helps after this discipline exists.
  4. Never dump a whole bankroll into 1/100,000 crates because a streamer opened a Secret on camera.

What you are actually pulling

Most opens are commons and uncommons that exist to occupy land. A few are Catgirls; the description says there are about three. Secrets and Super Secrets are the collection chase. Mutations sit behind the Mutation Hunter pass and whatever in-game mutate button Mugpugs added; they are not a pack rarity of their own.

Keep pulls using the Catboy tier list. Sell or store duplicates. Index completion is a long-term goal, not a first-week requirement.

Animation skip and luck passes

Auto Skip removes the pack animation. It does not raise rates. LUCK at 119 Robux is the pass that claims to help the roll. 2X CASH at 59 does not change pack odds; it helps you afford the next Eclipse faster. VIP at 119 is a quality-of-life bundle, not a Secret ticket.

If a script promises instant Secrets, read script safety and assume it is lying. Official luck is a pass. Unofficial luck is a ban risk.

During 2X title tags

Medal clips and the live title sometimes show a [2X] flag. That is a cash window, not a doubled Secret rate unless Mugpugs says so. Use 2X to farm the 50B price, then open Eclipse. Do not confuse a money event with a luck event. Check latest updates when the title changes.

After the open

Place the unit. Upgrade it only if it out-earns what you already have. If it is a Secret, read how to get Secrets for what to do next (hint: do not immediately sell it to buy more trash packs).

Community submissions can add new faces to future packs. That does not change today’s 1/100. Submit through the in-game flow on community submissions if you want a cameo, not because you think it raises your luck.

Open with a number in mind. Leave when the number is gone. That is the whole pack skill.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which pack should I open in Spin a Catboy?

Cheap packs to fill the Base. Eclipse (1/100) or 50B packs (1/150) when you are hunting Secrets. Avoid spamming 1/100,000 crates.

The crate the developer tied to a 1/100 Secret rate. It is the serious hunt pack.
